Film Direction

Course duration - 1 year

SIFA’s full-fledged Film direction course allows students to explore all our in-house facilities under one roof for the art of film direction.

SYLLABUS

Students are taught to focus to tell their own story through exploration of concepts of screenwriting, script breakdown and editing aesthetics. Constant script development and analysis exercises, extensive discussions in which students analyse each other's scripts and selecting a script on each genre are part of the course. Also students learn how to visualise a story, scene order, story board their ideas.

Students are exposed to the best of World Cinema, thereby widening their cinematic vocabulary and expanding their horizons and possibilities. They are given in-class exercises dealing with casting, rehearsing and extracting performances etc.

With our theory and practical classes students also acquire a technical understanding of basic cinematography and editing, voice dubbing, Vfx, re-recording, sound designing, sound mixing, colour correction etc.

Film and Video Editing:

Course duration - 1 year

Film and Video Editing is now popular career option, this is a key role in the post-production process. Editing is a backbone of a film and it is an art of storytelling. Editors have now become part of the shooting team even on on location. As editing involves the selection and combining of shots into sequences, and ultimately creating a finished picture. We train students direct to the real project so they start learn to the end result.

3D Animation:

Course duration - 1 year

Learn to create 3D art, animation, and visual effects for use in film, TV, games, and virtual reality at the SIFA's 3D Animation course. 3D animation classes are designed to teach you the theory that every great animator needs to know and equip you with the professional skills that will help you excel as you pursue a career in the competitive VFX industry.

At SIFA we provide professional facilities and state-of-the-art equipment so that our students gain hands-on experience with industry standard software which include Autodesk, Maya, Mudbox, MotionBuilder, Pixologicís ZBrush digital sculptor, SideFXís Houdini FX, Chaos Groupís V-Ray, and Foundryís Nuke compositing and editing program.

It is a booming industry with wide job openings and one can work on full length animation movies or any other related fields like television, advertising industry etc.

Visual Effects - VFX

Course duration - 1 year

SIFA,s Visual Effects courses are designed to create industry standard professionals for the VFX industry. Students will be trained for sophisticated film visual effects with in-depth instruction from the VFX head.

At SIFA we provide professional facilities and state-of-the-art equipment so that our students gain hands-on experience with industry standard software which includes Photoshop, After effects, Mocha, Foundryís Nuke and editing program.

Introduction of Photoshop, Color Correction, Digital Painting, Matte Painting, Production Pipeline, Clean-Up, Text Layer and Animation, Masking and Rotoscoping, Motion Graphics, Keying, Color Correction, Wire Removal, Tracking & Stabilising, 3d Layers & Particles, Creative effects on Footages, Multi Level Keying, 3d to 2d Track, Camera Projection, Advanced 3D tracking, Multilayer Compositing, Planar Tracking 4-Point and Offset Tracking, Time Controls and Stereoscopic Workflow.

Sound Engineering

Course duration - 1 year

SIFA’s Sound Engineering programmes introduce students to theories, practices, and tools used in digital audio production, focussing on the fundamental theories and concepts behind various types of digital audio tools. It also includes techniques and technology of professional location sync sound, music recording and film post production, using advanced equipments and virtual mixers.

SIFA's students will learn the various classification of microphones that include dynamic, condenser, ribbon microphones etc, and their professional application. The course also explains the various technical specifications of microphones and selecting the right microphone for the required application.

SYLLABUS

Introduction to Sound, Accoustics, Types of Microphones, Speakers & headphones, Audio Cables & wiring, Microphone Placing, Audio levels, Signal to Noise Ratio, Digital Consoles, Assigning & routing, Field Recorders, Sync Sound Recording, Vocals with Compressors & limiters and Noise gate, Digital FX Processors, Virtual Processors, MIDI, Ambience Recording, Foley Sound, Recording SFX, Location Recording, Sync Sound, Dubbing & Mixing and Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR).

The course explains the various surround sound formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS, SDDS etc. They will also be introduced to the art of surround mixing at our mixing theatre.

Also, the course explains the general maintenance of studio gadgets and the basic hardware know-how that include soldering electronic joints,and making cables and connectors etc.

The SIFA Sound engineer’s benefits:

5.1/7.1 Mixing:

Course duration - 6 Months

SIFA’s 5.1/7.1 Dolby Certified mixing theatre, with D command ES control surface, Protools HD Ultimate with Martin Audio 3 way speaker system delivers an optimum sound quality. Studio is equipped with two HDX hardware accelerator engine. It is built to perform 18 DSP processing cores, 768 voices and up to 192 I/O channels.

Learning the principles of surround sound and 5.1/7.1 audio mixing technology is of crucial knowledge for specialists in the audio industry. The course explains the project setting premixing and various surround sound formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS, SDDS etc. The students will also be introduced to the art of mixing in surround sound on Dcommand ES mixing console and with the Dolby processor.

The students will be taught how to use equalisers, compressors, reverbs, delay units and noise reduction systems and various industry stanard plug-ins.

Syllabus:

DI - Colour Grading

Course duration - 1 year

SIFA’s students will be trained on a well equiped DI suite with our DaVinci colour grading suite, one of the most powerful world leading grading and finishing software which can master and deliver up to 4k resolution for online, tv or cinema using the high-end hardware solutions. Students will be offered colour grading sessions with the industry standard colourist and faculty where you can grade real-time colour grading for your project.

Colour grading has always been a vital aspect of film and video, it sets the overall theme and tone of a project whether it’s commercial, long form television or a feature film. It’s one of the most demanding creative and technical processes and it requires a solution with flexibility and responsiveness.

Syllabus:

Basic editing on DaVinci, Project settings, Data management, EDL conifrmation, Base grading on the raw footage, Opticals on After effects and Nuke, Editing on the timeline, Working with various industry standard plugins and effects, Secondary grading, Colour consistancy matching, Introduction of the grading panel, Panel settings and customising, Hardware setting and cabling, GPU setting and play back on proxy, Lut generation and use of Lut, colour calibration basics, Projector setting and operation, DCP conversion, Ouput setting of different file format, Rendering & Mastering etc.

Cinematography:

Course duration - 1 year

Our curriculum is designed to make students participate in both the technical and creative demands of shooting films, television shows, music videos and web series. Students study under the Academy’s award-winning faculty of professional cinematographers who not only assist students but also provide insight into the current industry trends and professional realities. Thus students gain extensive experience learning how to overcome the many technical challenges they will encounter at the location. Under direct faculty supervision, students will be given the opportunity to shoot and edit several short projects. Through lectures, discussions, in-class exercises, outside readings, and film viewings they gain an overview of the film production process.

SYLLABUS

Students will be introduced to the techniques of motion picture, different lights and lighting pattern, latest digital cameras, Lenses, accessories, shooting grips, track dolly, jib, aerial shoot equipments, steadycams. Topics including high-key vs. low-key lighting, bright and dark scenes, indoor day/night, and outdoor day/night will all be explored from both an expressive and practical approach.

SIFA Cinematographer benefits:

  • SIFA’s 1800 square foot shooting floor and chroma floor is equipped with digital cameras and different range of lenses, lights, trolleys, gips and props for Cinematography. This enhances your creative playground for learning the production needs.

Voice Dubbing:

Course duration - 3 Months

The complete training will be conducted in SIFA’s professional Dubbing & recording studio.The course offers Complete professional guidance by expert faculty, including practical & individual recording.Voice fault finding, correcting and modulating voice for a particular module. Free voice Album/ portfolio and certificate after completing the course.Placement assisstance will be provided.

Warm-up techniques and Breathing techniques, Voice Improvement exercises, Pronunciation, Diction & Accentual Patterns, Presentation & Speech Development, Voice Modulation, Voice Acting, The art of good communication, Overview of the recording studio and Microphone techniques, Understanding Script and practicing, understanding VO, Narration & Dubbing. Voice Modulation and Tonality Dictation and Correction Lips Syncing, Emotional Mapping etc.

Still Photography

Course duration - 6 Months

SIFA's well experienced professional tutors will take the students to the world of photography tips and tricks, understanding the basics of photography, lighting, composition, background plates and colours, camera selection, lens specifications, shooting accessories, and retouching.

History of Photography, Definition, Characteristics of Light, Camera and Lens, Types of Camera & Features, Chemistry of Photography,DSLR Camera Functions, Multiple Exposure Techniques, Technicality of Photography, Special & Filter Effects, Portraiture, Product, Landscape, Photo Feature, Panorama Photography, Image Editing, Color Correction etc.

Screenplay Writing:

Course duration - 4 Months

SIFA students will learn screenwriting, including character creation, dialogue writing, scene construction, story editing, documentary writing, short format writing, commercials, broadcast news, factual entertainment and new media writing. They will develop an understanding of the script as the backbone of any creative piece of work and how apt writing fits perfectly into the production and editing process.

Renowned script writers from the industry will take extensive in-class theory and practical exercises that will develop the students to hone their creative intelligence further making them efficient at the craft.

Acting:

Course duration - 4 Months
